I Dreamed I Was a Very Clean Tramp – An Autobiography

Author: Richard Hell (2013)

A rock icon. Ex-Television, Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers, and Richard Hell and Voidoids. Released an album called Blank Generation in 1977 – one of the great albums.

First Edition. The punk rock innovator and a personal hero of mine. He started everything, at least the spirit of punk rock. Hell embodied the ethos of explosiveness in the best rock music – not virtuosity. This is his memoirs from childhood in the 60s, through the New York rock scene in the 70s, up until closing things out in the early 1980s. Needless to say it’s riveting.
