Alice Cooper – Killer (1971)

A masterclass in 4 piece piledriving rock. Having heard Million Dollar Babies (’73) a million times it’d always been 3 star album for me, with of 3 all-timers: Hello Hooray, Raped and Freezin’, and the monstrous title track. Love it to Death the album that came out in early 1971 is great too, perhaps not as complete or nearly as much fun as this album: Killer. With producer Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd, Kiss, Peter Gabriel) the guitar interplay between Bruce and Buxton not to mention the power of their frontman, is as good as any combination in rock. Some disturbing moments here for sure, the closing title track for starters, but recover nicely elsewhere in the superb opener Under My Wheels, the rocking Be My Lover, Yeah Yeah Yeah and the magnificent You Drive Me Nervous. Coops rocks.
