Johnny Thunders – So Alone (1978)

Late ex-New York Dolls guitarist first solo outing. Not strictly his first, the previous year’s gloriously sloppy L.A.M.F recorded with the drug-fuelled Heartbreakers was very good, perhaps better than this record – but So Alone is a terrific listen and highly recommended. Includes guest musicians such as Phil Lynott and Chrissy Hynde, it’s an amalgam of R&B, doo wop, and three-chord rock & roll – the last of his great records.
